Men’s Style – Getting The Right Style Of Jacket

Many styles of men’s jackets which are popular today are based on the styles of clothing worn by soldiers during World War I and II. Probably the best example of this is the bomber jacket. Made from leather and designed to keep the body extra warm, it is close fitting and has an elastic waistline and cuffs so as to prevent warm air from seeping out and cold air from coming in. For extra insulation, some bomber jackets also have a fur lining to provide even more insulation.

A pea coat is another popular style of jacket from that era which is still popular today. Pea coats are thick, heavy and made of wool. They typically have several large metal or wooden buttons on them. This style of jacket is usually thigh length, though shorter and full length versions can also be found in stores. In terms of colors, they tend to be quite muted, with black, navy blue, brown and olive green being the most popular, as they were during the Wars.

A longer, more formal, alternative to pea coats are wool trench coats. Typically available in black, blue, gray and brown, they look great for wearing to work in the winter months. They are particularly great for guys living in wet countries because they keep not only the top of the body dry but also your pants too. A patterned scarf is nice a compliment to them, as they add a bit of color and contrast to your look.

For dates and nights out friends, a nice looking blazer jacket is a good item to have in your wardrobe. It’s the perfect item for adding a bit of formality and style to the jeans and t-shirt look that most guys are fond of. Unlike the other jackets mentioned above, you’re not really restricted to muted colors when it comes to blazer jackets. In terms of materials too, there is a much greater choice available.

So, if you normally have trouble when it comes to buying a new jacket, keep in mind the styles mentioned above, which are all timeless classic jackets.
