how do I get the smell out of leather sandals?

Jun 07 2009

We have several pairs of leather sandals that got wet or damp and now smell. We are wondering if there is a way to get rid of the smell? Is there a powder that can be used or something else?

  1. Baking soda is the best powder to absorb odor. But depending on the leather it could stain the color. Try a good shoe repair shop. Be forewarned though, may comeback smelling better but after two or three wears the smell often comes back. Good Luck!

  2. I soak mine for a few minutes in a mixture of pinesol and water, dry and coat lightly with mineral oil. It works really well.

i dont know what you can do now, but whenever you get leather things, coat them with that leather stuff. you can pretty much get it anywhere (walmart, target, shoes stores)

  4. I wash mine in the washing machine . have had the same pair for years
