Everyone knows to go to the dentist if you are experiencing pain with your teeth. However, many people dont realize that if you feel that your teeth are unattractive, cosmetic dentistry is a viable option. While, regular dentistrys purpose is to maintain teeth, gum and mouth health, cosmetic dentistry aims to make smiles more beautiful and while making teeth look their best. Cosmetic procedures are a great way to feel better about your teeth and mouth.

Tooth whitening is one of the most common cosmetic procedures. If you are like many people, a bright, white smile is something that you are always trying to achieve. A professional tooth whitening process will strip away layers of dirt and staining to reveal vibrant and white teeth. Remember how white your teeth were as a child? Cosmetic dentistry can help you reclaim the beautiful white smile that you once took for granted.

In addition to tooth whitening, dental veneers are a common cosmetic dentistry procedure. Veneers are a great way to improve any smile. They can help correct misshapen teeth, little spaces between teeth and improve whiteness. Your dentist will apply a thin ceramic coating to the top of your teeth. This coating is made either of porcelain or composite resin. Porcelain is typically more expensive, but it more closely resembles your natural tooth.

Dental implants are not as common as whitening or veneers. This is probably due to the more involved nature of the process. However, implants are a great way to replace missing teeth. Some may choose to use dentures, but implants are a more permanent and effective choice for those with missing teeth. To install an implant, your dentist would drill a hole directly into your gums. Once the hole has been drilled, a screw is inserted into the hole. Over time, your gums will grow back over the screw. Artificial teeth or crowns are then inserted into the screw. Once the gums grow back, these teeth look and function just like natural teeth. They are very strong and reliable artificial tooth options. Since missing teeth can greatly age ones appearance, implants are a great way to improve your smile if you have missing teeth.

There are also other cosmetic dentistry procedures, but tooth whitening, dental veneers and dental implants are amongst the most common. If you are looking to look and feel younger, this may be a quick way to improve your appearance. Some people have even felt as though they have ugly teeth and look at cosmetic dental procedures as a chance to turn over a new leaf.
